Elephant Stone - The Three Poisons (HIdden Pony/Burger)

"When acts like The Black Angels and Beck want to add some Indian flavor to a song, sitar player Rishi Dhir is the guy they call. When he’s not playing with The High Dials, Dhir fronts Montreal’s Elephant Stone. On The Three Poisons Elephant Stone focuses just as much on early psychedelia as they do on the craft of the sitar itself."

Bitchin Bajas - s/t (Drag City)

"Approaching this LP I had copious amounts of CAVE in mind. Cooper Crain, the main man behind Bajas, first established himself as guitarist in acclaimed Chicago instrumentalist unit CAVE. That said the precision and motoric rhythms of that band did little to prepare me for this disc. Betraying an obvious affinity for the likes of Brian Eno and Robert Fripp (whose 1973 collaboration (No Pussyfooting) is the perfect place to dive into ambient music), Bajas achieves something distinct and refreshingly pleasing. Within the structure (?) of abstract music it can be difficult for an act to establish a distinct style. Thankfully the casual flow and baroque grandeur of this album give it both intriguing subtlety and voluminous weight."

Chicago’s Pink Frost has announced an EP follow up to last years Sundowing.  Traitors EP will be released September 16th via Smart Like Virus.
I want to start this by saying that if you are reading this before September 4, 2014, stop what you are doing and buy a ticket to Hopscotch and see The White Octave play in Raleigh. Readers who have been fans of Fabricoh for some time will know that we began as a print zine. When we ran bi-monthly print issues of Fabricoh we liked to try to end each issue with a longer feature. Our very first issue we printed A Look Back At The White Octave. This was well over a year ago and none of us here at Fabricoh could have imagined that The White Octave would actually reunite to play Raleigh’s Hopscotch Festival in 2014. They’ve also opted to reissue their debut album which is unspeakably awesome. Coinciding with their upcoming set at Hopscotch, we’re posting the original article. There are a lot of allusions made to the fact that no one here (or maybe anywhere) saw their reunion coming. The article also includes an exclusive interview with Bob Weston, who recorded both of their records. This is the first in a trend of posting those early print-exclusives so look for more on the Features page.
